"Westmalle Tripel is a clear, golden yellow Trappist beer that undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle (9.5% alcohol). It is a complex beer with a fruity aroma and a nice nuanced hop scent. It is soft and creamy in the mouth, with a bitter touch carried by the fruity aroma. An exceptional beer, with a great deal of finesse and elegance. And with a splendid long aftertaste. The Westmalle Tripel is indeed called the 'mother of all tripels.' This type of beer was first brewed in Westmalle abbey in 1934 when the new brewing hall came into use. This exceptional beer is a special version of the Gouden Carolus Classic, with an enriched taste palate and mysterious aromas added. The caramelised malts and its 11% alc. vol. give the Cuvée van de Keizer the warm roundness of wine together with the refreshing taste of beer. "Pours hazy golden orange with a bright white head and effervescent carbonation. Aroma is slightly spicy, with notes of hay, honey, and citrus. Initial taste is sweet and malty, with mild orange characteristics and a pleasant spiciness/sharpness reminiscent of a tripel, but with a bigger alcohol punch. Moderate hop bitterness and botanical notes of coriander, cardamom, and citrus add complexity." —brewer
