James Suckling: 91, Wine Enthusiast: 92

"The wines of Château Cissac are superior, classic wines, which combine the strength of the Médoc and the aromatic elegance of the greatest of the Bordeaux wines. They have a distinctive depth of colour and a subtle balance between aromas of cherry and plums, mingled with liquorice and smoke." —winemaker

"Owned by the Vialard family since the 19th century, this estate has produced a firm wine. Plenty of dry tannins underlie the finely textured black fruits. Wood aging has smoothed the fruit and deepened its concentration. Drink from 2026." —Wine Enthusiast

"Pretty nose of currants, dark cherries, dried violets, cloves and pine cones. It’s medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Clean, crisp and flavorful. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and petit verdot. Drink after 2023." —James Suckling

"Intense purple color. Complex aromas of black fruit with toasted notes and hints of mocha. Good balance on the palate thanks to its full-body and its sweetness. Elegant and soft tannins in the finish. In Entre Deux Mers area, has been run by the same family for 3 generations. Today, it is managed to respect the vineyards as well as the wines by preferring low-yielded grapes to improve their qualities. To cultivate their lands with methods that protect the environment and enhance natural competition amongst the vines." —winemaker

Chateau Lassus 2016 Size: 750ml

"The winery was mentioned in the first edition of « Bordeaux Et Ses Vins » edited by Charles Cocks in 1850. This time it was owned by P. Brion. In the fifth edition of the guide in 1886 the winery appeared under its current name, Château Lassus. In 1932 Château Lassus was awarded Cru Bourgeois status for its Medocian wine. The estate was bought by the Paeffgen family in 2010 who have realized large investments since to help the cru maintain its renowned status. The quality focus is realized by sustainable efforts in the vineyards, a strong selection process upfront harvest as well as during processing of the berries and finally by the maturing of the wine in selected French oak barrels (barriques). As such the potential of the exceptional terroir and the old vines with reduced yields is converted in a Médocwine with elegant finesse, clarity in the fruit expression, complexity of aroma and taste with a smooth tannin structure. Remaining a typical Medoc-wine, Château Lassus has a significant aging potential." —winemaker
