"Our well-known Jumping Goat vineyard located in the AVA of St. Helena is one of the standout wines in our portfolio. A deep garnet purple color boasting aromatics of raspberry, dark cherry and chocolate with floral notes of rose petal, lavender and violet - an extremely perfumed wine. The entry is very inviting with lively acid and great minerality and is very powerful and bold with well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and lingering. This luscious wine will age beautifully. This Jumping Goat could be defined as one of the most European styles to date." —winemaker |

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Jumping Goat Vineyard Métisse captures all the natural radiance and voluptuousness that is so typical of wines from this central sector of St. Helena. Powerful, bold and luscious, the 2018 is a headspinning beauty. Dark red/purplish berry fruit, licorice, mint and cedar open first. A firm backbone of tannin and acid lurks beneath all of that fruit richness. The 2018 is a wonderfully complete wine to treasure and savor over the next 15-20 years, maybe more. It is one of the very finest wines I have tasted from Philippe and Cherie Melka." —Antonio Galloni, Vinous "The tannins are so nicely integrated and firm with wonderful length. Full-bodied and polished with stone and dark-fruit character. Flavorful finish. Nice balance and length. Drink after 2022 or later." —James Suckling "Composed of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Metisse Jumping Goat Vineyard is deep garnet-purple colored and springs from the glass with vibrant scents of crushed black cherries, fresh blackberries and blackcurrant jelly with suggestions of menthol, pencil lead, dark chocolate and violets. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of energetic, crunchy black fruits, supported by ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and perfumed. 400 cases were made." —Wine Advocate |
