Tura Mountain Peak Red 2017

Size: 750ml

Israel, Kosher Wine, Red Wine

Wine Advocate: 91

"The Tura Mountain Peak is produced from 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. The grapes were carefully grown in the Bracha Village vineyards, 850 meters above sea level. The cold, snowy winters and cool summer nights, the rocky soil and meticulous care, merge to create premium quality vineyards. The wine was aged in the winery's cellar for 22 months in new French barrels and for another 12 months in the bottle. Discover the complexity and intensity of this fine wine." —winemaker

"The 2017 Mountain Peak is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, aged for 22 months in new French oak. It comes in at 14.7% alcohol. This has some extra bottle age as compared to its siblings in this report, and it sure needed it. It is easily the most powerful. The extra new-oak impact needed a little more time to be balanced, no doubt too. This shows off the mid-palate finesse of the 2018 Cabernet but then adds that extra power (and new wood) to go with the good fruit. This, of the three red offerings in this report, is the one made to age. Whether it will or not is another question, but it certainly has a good shot at improving more over the next few years and holding well. This is not as appealing today as the 2018 Cabernet, but it sure seems to have more upside potential. There were 9,900 bottles produced." —Wine Advocate
