"Inky purple. Explosive aromas of candied black and blue fruits, cola, vanilla and smoky minerals with a suave potpourri quality gaining power in the glass. Rich, sappy and expansive, offering palate-coating boysenberry and bitter cherry flavors nicely balanced by juicy acidity. Finishes with superb energy and length leaving smoke, floral and ripe, dark fruit notes behind." —winemaker |

"The 2019 La Viña de Corteo is their pure Syrah that had not been produced in 2016, 2017 or 2018. This has 16% alcohol and a pH of 3.5 and 6.1 grams of acidity (tartaric). The vineyard is 1.8 hectares and was planted 24 years ago. The grapes fermented in open-top stainless steel tanks and finished fermenting in French and American oak barrels, where the wine underwent malolactic fermentation and matured for 28 to 30 months. This has notes of fried corn and is a very toasty, ripe and concentrated style of Syrah, much closer to the wines from Australia (no wonder!) than those from the Northern Rhône. It's ripe, full-bodied and generously oaked, with abundant roasted notes and dusty tannins. Definitely for fans of the style. 1,200 bottles were filled in February 2022, with a release date scheduled for the end of March." —Wine Advocate |
