"The primary emphasis of the predominantly sandy 10 acre vineyard is Chardonnay, with equal amounts of five clones planted (4, 76, Hyde, Mount Eden and Sea Smoke Wente). Only neutral barrels are employed. Whole cluster pressed chardonnay. We don’t promote or prohibit malolactic fermentation, allowing wine to be in balance, bright and elegant. All of the wines are produced with the intention of aging and cellaring for at least 10 years and can easily be enjoyed after 15 years." —winemaker |

"My favorite of the Chardonnay releases is the 2018 Chardonnay 3D, and this beauty has everything you could want from a Sta. Rita Hills release. Medium gold-hued, with a stunning nose of stone fruits, white currants, crushed stone, toasted bread, and a hints of green almonds, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, elegant texture, flawless balance, and a great, great finish. It's one of the finest Chardonnays in this report." —Jeb Dunnuck "The 2018 Chardonnay 3D is the most powerful of the wines. Tropical, dense and plush, the 3D possesses notable richness, yet retains the energy that runs through all these wines. The 3D is marked by a real sense of oiliness and texture. The mix of Wente and Mt. Eden clones work so well here." —Antonio Galloni, Vinous |
