Laphroaig

Founded in 1815 on the rugged shores of Islay, Laphroaig is a whisky shaped by its surroundings and the people who craft it. The island’s wild terrain, peat-rich soil, and briny Atlantic air lend a distinctive character to every drop. Generations of skilled distillers have upheld traditional methods, from the slow-burning peat smoke that imbues the barley with its signature intensity to the Kilbride Stream’s peaty waters, which carry the essence of Islay’s landscape. Laphroaig’s unmistakable depth of flavor—boldly peaty with whispers of salt and heather—stands apart, a reflection of the land and those who call it home.  

Over the centuries, Laphroaig has changed hands but never its spirit. From the Johnston family’s founding vision to its stewardship under Bessie Williamson and later global recognition, the distillery has remained true to its origins. The whisky even earned the Royal Warrant from the Prince of Wales in 1994, a nod to its singular character. Today, as part of Beam Suntory, Laphroaig continues to honor its Islay roots, embracing both heritage and the island’s uncompromising conditions to produce a whisky that remains as distinctive as ever.
