"We have access to truly exceptional vineyards that are producing some of the best Cabernet Sauvignon in the country. It just made sense to add Cab to the Beautiful Earth series of wines. Components were destemmed and fermented in small open-top bins, and stainless steel tanks. The wine spent between 20-25 days on the skins with a combination of pump-overs and punchdowns during fermentation. Aged 18 months in a combination of 225 and 265-liter barriques, and 500-liter French oak puncheons, 60% of which were new." —winemaker
"The 2021 Bella Union Napa Valley Cabernet possesses beautiful and intriguing aromas of dark plum, black cherry, hints of clove and barrel spice. "The fruit for the 'Counterpoint' bottling comes from Laurel Glen Vineyard, which is 14 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon planted in 1968, CCOF Certified Organic and Pickberry Vineyard, which is 30 acres of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Malbec. The blend is predominately Cabernet Sauvignon from the Laurel Glen Vineyard, with the remainder consisting of Merlot and Malbec from the Pickberry Vineyard. The wine ages for 20 months in French oak, of which roughly 40% is new." —winemaker

"While admiring the cranberry red hue, forward fruit aromatics of black cherry and cassis begin to make your mouth water before the first sip! On the palate, juicy notes of blueberry compote and cherry cordial meld seamlessly with hints of cinnamon and cream soda. The wine methodically transitions from the bright, round entry through the viscous midpalate and onto a broad-shouldered finish. This is where hints of clove, graham cracker and toasted marshmallow are juxtaposed with those of dark roast coffee and Bing cherry. This wine can be enjoyed now but will benefit from another 10 to 20 years of bottle age." —winemaker

"This district is characterized by gravelly soils over a clay-like substructure along with stronger nightly cooling due to closer proximity to the San Pablo Bay. The resulting wines have been described as "textural hedonism"; wines full of flavor and intensity with a softer, elegant structure. The 2017 Addendum Stags Leap District absolutely delivers." —winemaker
