"Deep cherry red, with an intense and attractive nose. Ripe fruit, roasted and spicy notes from the barrel with a mineral taste from the slate soil where the vine grows. A complex, fruity, powerful and elegant wine on the palate. Full bodied yet velvety at the same time, with a great presence of fruit. Bold tannins." —winemaker |
Critical Acclaim | |||
"There are notes of coconut, vanilla and smoked bacon in the nose of the 2019 Atteca Armas, the old-vine cuvée from their best vineyards around the village of Ateca in Calatayud. It has a commercial profile with plenty of oak aromas from no less than 18 months in French oak barrels and a full-bodied palate with abundant tannins. 2019 was a healthy harvest after a warm and dry season. This is a powerful and generously oaked Garnacha that showcases the house style. It's ripe at 15.5% alcohol but balanced. 7,200 bottles were filled in April 2021." —Wine Advocate |
