"Rayos Uva is Olivier’s version of a Bourgogne Rouge sourced from fruit grown in the sandy, gravelly and alluvial soils of Rioja Baja. The blend is dependent on the vintage but usually includes Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Graciano – percentages change each year to create a brightly fruity version of Rioja unmarked by oak." —importer |

"A crystal-clear red with crushed raspberry, currant, citrus and cedar aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, creamy tannins and stone and slate undertones. Always excellent value. Drink or hold." —James Suckling "The very young red 2019 Rayos Uva shows nice aromas and the roundness of 2019, when Rivière had lower yields, and the fruit is very defined. There is a change to adapt to the vintage, so there's a little less Tempranillo and a lot more Graciano; the breakdown is 50% Graciano, 30% Garnacha and 20% Tempranillo, a very different blend from previous years. It has some herbal/peppery sensations and ripe fruit without excess. The palate is juicy and sleek with some sparks, and it has unusual freshness, quite good to balance this wine in a warmer year like 2019. Due to the COVID-19 lockdown, this was bottled a little later, and that could have been positive for the wine... 75,000 bottles produced." —Wine Advocate |
