"Red wine produced with a blend of red indigenous Douro grapes from the region of Ervedosa do Douro and Numão, this full-bodied red wine is elegant and sophisticated with flavours of ripe fruit, jam and spice" —winemaker |

"This perfumed, wood-aged wine comes from a field blend of grapes from old vines. Its density and concentration are proof of its origins, enhanced by the 12 months in wood. This is a powerful wine, balancing rich black fruits and acidity. Drink from 2022." —Wine Enthusiast "The 2017 Reserva is mostly a field blend from old vines (40 to 60 years), with 20% Touriga Nacional added in. It was all aged in 80% new French oak for 12 months. It comes in at 14% alcohol. A little oaky in its youth, it counters with good structure and fine fruit. Fruit forward this year, it still shows off that structure, even though the tannins are ripe. It seems very fresh and lifted, though. The freshness that I wanted to see in the Vale de Cavalos is here, and it makes this rather enticing. This is nicely done, but it will need a year or two to show better. It should then hold well for another decade or more. Even as it sat in the glass, I could feel the fruit emerging and the power combining to eviscerate the wood." —Wine Advocate "A polished, generous red, layered with raspberry compote, cherry ganache and baking spice notes that give way to undertones of olive, herb and graphite. Full, plush tannins frame the violet accents on the finish. Best from 2021 through 2027. 2,800 cases made, 1,500 cases imported." —Wine Spectator |
