"Ruby red, tending to garnet with ageing. Pleasant, winey, with hints of ripe red fruit. Long-lasting, balanced with sweet tannins." —winemaker Blend: Sangiovese 50% and Montepulciano 50% |
Critical Acclaim | |||
"The 2016 Rosso Piceno Sassaiolo from Monte Schiavo lifts from the glass with feminine elegance, showing dusty roses, minerals and crushed raspberry, as hints of peppery herbs develop over time. On the palate, silky textures are perfectly contrasted by tart red fruits, brisk acids and minerals, and suggestions of fine tannin slowly settle in. It finishes long and spicy, with youthful structure and lasting cherry-berry notes. This balanced blend of Sangiovese and Montepulciano is wonderfully pure, already enjoyable today, but also capable of some medium-term cellaring. I’m impressed." —Vinous |
