"This is it, the one that started it all. Crafted to perfection for over 200 years, Guinness Extra Stout is descended from the definitive West India Porter known as Extra Superior Porter. Crack it open, and the first sip tastes as fresh as ever. The unmistakable deep-dark color, the crisp hint of roasted barley, the fresh breeze of hops, and the refreshing bite all make for the bittersweet reward. Pure beauty. Pure Guinness. This product brewed under license in Canada." —brewer

"[Brewed under license in Canada.] Appearance: Black as night, with a rather creamy tan head; semi-sticky and dissipates rather quickly.

"Smell: Earthy esters, dark malts, mild aromatic floral hop bouquet.

"Taste: Smooth upfront with a nice rich malt flavour. Some rounded malt sweetness pulls through (almost get some molasses out of it, and some ripe dark fruits), but it gets swept away by a hop flavour that is a bit lemony, puckering. There's also a dryness to the brew that is amplified by the hop snap. The dryness carries through in the aftertaste, along with some earth/grain husk flavours.

"Notes: This is the real Guinness, in my opinion. Known and labeled as their 'Original,' and actually, originally, their Porter product during the 1700s (becoming their Stout in 1799). An exceptional Stout! The 60/40 nitro-injected stuff you get at the pub today is fairly new to this world (1961) — it hardly stands up to this brew." —Todd Alström, BeerAdvocate

Ommegang Abbey Ale Size: 25.4oz

00972
"Abbey was Ommegang's first beer and was styled after Dubbels produced by Belgian Trappist monks. A deep, rich and malty ale, Abbey uses several Belgian specialty malts and spices resulting in a very aromatic, flavorful beer. Deep burgundy in color, topped by a dense tan head, Abbey Ale is rich on the palate but with a dry finish. Suitable for cellaring, Abbey develops wonderful caramel, fig, and currant notes with age." —brewer
