The 2009 vintage has produced some of the best Bordeaux's we have ever came across. According to Wine Spectator, "After reviewing nearly 700 wines from 2009, I conclude that Bordeaux did harvest exceptional vintage last year. It's rare to find young reds with so much concentration of ripe fruit and powerful tannins, yet that are so beautifully in balance. Winemakers often spoke of the high tannin concentration of their reds. Some say their 2009's are their most tannic wines ever. But the tannins, alcohol and acidity are harmony"
They went on to say, "I rated hundreds of wines as potentially outstanding(90 points or higher on Wine Spectator's 100-point scale), and dozens of wines earned potentially classic scores(95 to 100). Overall, I give the 2009 vintage a provisional rating of 97 to 100 for the Left Bank (Medoc districts such as Margaux, St. Julien, Pauillac and St. Estephe) and 95 to 98 for the Right Bank (primarily Pomerol and St-Emilion)".
